Myself & Our Story

I’m currently an Educational Assistant, Respite Worker, and Waitress, who is trying to start her life as a farmer, and down the road stay at home mom. My dream com(ing) true!

Simply put, I am a girl that always had a dream of being a farmer in the back of my mind. It always seemed to be pushed aside with the opinions and thoughts of those around me. Even as a young child I was told that I would be working with children, and that farming was just a silly thought. When I was in Grade 2, I remember our teacher telling us to draw what we wanted to be when we grew up. I drew myself as a Kindergarten Teacher, and looked next to me at a boy who drew himself as a farmer (he was raised on a well-profiting dairy farm). I was so jealous that he knew he could become that.

Now, 15 years later, my dream has become a plan. This is a huge thanks to my boyfriend, who has grown up on a small farm. We have been friends since high school, but didn’t start dating until 2015.  Once we started dating I told him about my dream, and he thought that it was an amazing idea to take on. He said that none of his brothers wanted to take on the family farm, as it hasn’t been really worked for the past 15 years. He explained that he loved farming, but all his past ex’s tried to pull him away from the farm. He was now just as excited as I was about achieving this dream!

So here we are today. Living in my parents basement, while we plan on building a house for his parents that will work better for them than the old farm house (with too many stairs). Then, for us to move into the old farm house. The excitement, the stress, the time, and the money!

So come walk with me on my farming journey! I wanted to create this blog to let others who have a dream, that they should follow it! I also want to hear any advice that you may have for me along the way! Wish us luck!
